At an elevation of 1,884 meters, Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Rift Valley lakes and one of its few freshwater sanctuaries. Fringed by yellow-barked fever trees and vast papyrus swamps, the lake is a world-class birding destination and home to a massive population of over 1,500 hippos.
