Africa's Steaming Pink Sancturary
Lake Bogoria is a saline, alkaline gem tucked away in the rugged fault troughs of the Great Rift Valley. Known for its intense geothermal activity, the lake is home to the highest concentration of true geysers in Africa. Its shallow waters are a rich «soup» of blue-green algae, attracting millions of flamingos that transform the shoreline into a shimmering ribbon of pink.

Seasonal Overview
Lake Bogoria is a year-round destination where the experience shifts with the Rift Valley’s cycles rather than distinct seasons:
-
The Season of Vitality: During the wetter months, the surrounding bushland turns a deep emerald green. The air is exceptionally clear, offering crisp views of the escarpment. This is a quiet time when the «resident» birdlife thrives and the hot springs provide a dramatic contrast to the cool rain.
-
The Flamingo Peak: As the lake water recedes through evaporation, its alkalinity increases, leading to massive blooms of Spirulina algae. This is when the flamingo populations are at their most concentrated, often numbering in the millions as they seek the perfect feeding conditions.
-
The Geothermal High: During the drier spells, the geothermal pressure is most visible. The steam from the hot springs rises higher into the heat of the day, and the lack of surface runoff makes the geysers’ crystal-clear eruptions a sight to behold.
