    Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a 28,000-acre private conservancy that serves as a vital wildlife corridor between Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks. Unlike the vast, rugged plains of the surrounding Tsavo ecosystem, Taita Hills offers a more intimate and verdant landscape characterized by grassy plains, riverine forests, and the dramatic backdrop of the Taita Hills mountains.

    1. The Wildlife Corridor: Because it is a private sanctuary, the animal density is high. It is a haven for massive herds of elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and the rare fringe-eared oryx.

Activiteiten

    1. Nachtelijke gamedrives: Beleef de sensatie van de Afrikaanse bush na donker. Met behulp van gefilterde spotlights volgen onze gidsen nachtactieve jagers zoals luipaarden, hyena’s en de ongrijpbare honingdas.

    2. Wildlife “Hide”-fotografie: Breng tijd door in de ondergrondse tunnel van Salt Lick Safari Lodge. Deze “schuilplaats” plaatst je op grondniveau met de dieren, waardoor je wereldklasse close-up fotografie kunt maken van wilde dieren die bij de waterpoel drinken.

    3. Eerste Wereldoorlog Slagveldtochten: Voor geschiedenisliefhebbers zijn het heiligdom en de omliggende heuvels de thuisbasis van belangrijke locaties uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog waar Britse en Duitse troepen met elkaar botsten. We kunnen rondleidingen regelen naar de forten en sluipschuttersposten.

    4. Begeleide natuurwandelingen: Verken de kleinere details van de bush te voet. Samen met een reservaatranger leer je over dierensporen, inheemse planten en het levendige vogelleven van het Taita-ecosysteem.

    5. Bush Breakfasts & Sundowners: Geniet van een privémaaltijd in het hart van de natuur. We zetten sundowners op op schilderachtige heuvelruggen waar je met een drankje in de hand de zon achter de Taita Hills kunt zien verdwijnen.
